Lancer Classic Dinner and Awards
The Lancer Classic Dinner and Awards is Bishop Amat's opportunity to highlight the accomplishments of our Alumni and the philanthropic endeavors of a local community member. Monsignor Aidan M. Carroll, President presents the Alumnus of the Year Award and the Thomas A. Kiefer Humanitarian Award at this event. The Dinner normally takes place in March at a prestigous hotel located in downtown Los Angeles.
This year’s Lancer Classic Dinner will take place on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Los Angeles Marriott Downtown, 333 South Figueroa Avenue, Los Angeles. The reception will begin at 6:00 p.m. with dinner and awards to follow at 7:00 p.m.
The Monsignor Thomas A. Kiefer Humanitarian Award will be presented to Mr. Robert Huston, Chairman of the Watson Land Company. Mr. Huston is a real estate attorney and partner in the Los Angeles office of the Southern California based law firm Booth, Mitchel & Strange LLP. Prior to becoming Chairman in 2003, Mr. Huston served on the board for six years.
Mr. Huston’s practice focuses on real estate and construction contracts in addition to general business litigation.
Mr. Huston is an active community leader who serves on the board of a number of organizations including the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Council of Los Angeles and Family Rosary/Family theater Productions, and the St. Francis High School Alumni Council. He also serves on the board of the Southern California Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The Alumnus of the Year Award will be presented to Mr. Alan G. Ludwig, Class of 1964. Alan is President of Pascal & Ludwig Constructors, a general engineering firm headquartered in Ontario, California. His company specializes in the construction of water and wastewater facilities and annually completes an estimated $80-$100 million in the construction and/or installation of buildings, pump stations, reservoirs, treatment plants and civil site improvements for municipalities throughout Southern California.
Alan is also a member of the Bishop Amat High School Consultative Council and its Plant and Facilities Committee. He contributed to the capital campaign for the building of the Student Activity Center, in particular, by providing equipment for the athletic training facility. Alan continues to support capital projects on the campus, most recently, the construction of the Bishop Amat Military Memorial. Alan has given generously of his time, talent and treasure in support of Bishop Amat High School for many years and is richly deserving of this award.
